Swiss cuisine - refinement beyond fondue.

Some restaurants I could recommend to a friend (3): Morges

It’s a shame, but my own town is not a gastronomical one. In old Morges, close to the lake, you don’t have too many choices if you want to eat anything but asian food, though the chinese restaurant Fu Yiu is not bad. The scene has been the same for 30 years, but service and food are pleasant.

Let’s begin with La Fleur du Lac, a hotel with a terrace on the shores of Lake Geneva. Classic, a touch old fashioned, a restaurant which offers well-presented and tasty food, with a dash of modernity. Octopus stewed with coriander and West Indian spices, char simply cooked in its skin with olive oil and lemon thyme and veal cutlet, prepared with hazelnuts and port sauce - these are some of the favorites.

In the same Hotel, le Café des Amis, specializes in rib steak grilled with a Charlemagne sauce , a secret recipe full of flavour. To be tasted!

Another hotel, more central, the Mont-Blanc - a renovated restaurant on two floors, facing the lake with a nice terrace. The food is simpler but you should try the local “filets de perche” with french fries.

You can also take a chance with the sports clubs. Just beside the castle, le Club Nautique has the best terrace in town, bordering the lake. The food is popular, with some good fish and meat and “gambas à gogo”on Monday. The tennis club is also worth a shot - a least for pizzas.
