Free summer boat shuttle to Hermance inn

During the summer months, on nice days only and if not otherwise occupied, the Auberge d’Hermance’s Norwegian-made Windy is on hand to shuttle groups of four to seven people free of charge to Hermance from any pier in Geneva City all the way down to Nyon if they’ve reserved a table for lunch or dinner at the inn.

Otherwise, only the posh Right Bank La Réserve Hotel and Spa has a boat shuttle in Geneva -  their sleek motoscafo that runs free between the city and Bellevue. For more on that go to www.lareserve.ch.

Left Bank Auberge d’Hermance is in a different vibe altogether from the hotel & spa; it is romantic and charming in a heritage village well worth a visit, and its food is less rarefied compared with the Réserve restaurants - but it is absolutely delicious, along the lines of sea bream with Mediterrenean herbs, braised fennel, saffron and wild rice, or grilled skewers of veal and beef with risotto and chanterelle mushrooms.

With its atmospheric terrace for outdoor dining, price-wise in the upper-middle ranges, Auberge d’Hermance is one of our favorite places in Geneva. And it’s open 7/7.

From any of the shuttle pick-up points, it shouldn’t take more than about 15 minutes to get to and from Hermance (before dark and assuming at least four of you are returning, the boat also takes you back to point of departure).
